Housed in a stunning Renzo Piano-designed building overlooking the Hudson River, the Whitney is the definitive home for American art.

Permanent Collection

The Whitney holds one of the most significant collections of twentieth- and twenty-first-century American art, with more than 25,000 works by over 3,500 artists. The collection is particularly strong in Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art, and contemporary works, with deep holdings of artists including Edward Hopper, Georgia O'Keeffe, and Alexander Calder.
