Stonewall National Monument commemorates the site of the June 1969 Stonewall Uprising, widely regarded as the catalyst for the modern LGBTQ rights movement in the United States and around the world, and the first national monument dedicated to LGBTQ history and culture. The monument encompasses the historic Stonewall Inn, Christopher Park, and the surrounding streets of Greenwich Village.

Permanent Collection

The visitor center presents the history of the Stonewall Uprising and the LGBTQ rights movement through artifacts, photographs, oral histories, and multimedia installations, tracing the path from the 1969 riots to contemporary civil rights milestones. Christopher Park features the Gay Liberation sculpture by George Segal.
