Founded in 1804, the New-York Historical Society is New York's oldest museum and library, dedicated to presenting history and art exhibitions that illuminate the rich history of New York and the nation. The museum is home to the DiMenna Children's History Museum and the Henry Luce III Center for the Study of American Culture.

Permanent Collection
The New-York Historical Society holds a vast collection of American art, furniture, silver, paintings, and documents spanning four centuries of history, with particular strengths in the Hudson River School, Civil War artifacts, and the papers of Alexander Hamilton. The Henry Luce III Center provides visible storage of over 40,000 objects.
