Located in a decommissioned 1936 subway station in Downtown Brooklyn, the New York City Transit Museum celebrates the history and technology of public transportation in New York, featuring over 100 years of transit history and a collection of vintage subway cars from the early 20th century. It is the largest museum in the United States devoted to urban public transportation history.

The Transit Museum's collection spans buses, subway cars, photographs, and artifacts documenting the history of NYC's vast transit network since the late 19th century. The platform-level gallery houses a fleet of restored vintage subway cars from the 1900s through 1960s, allowing visitors to explore actual historical rolling stock.
