Morgan Library & Museum

Murray Hill1–2 hoursarthistory

The Morgan Library & Museum grew from the private library of financier J. Pierpont Morgan, who assembled one of the world's most distinguished collections of manuscripts, rare books, and drawings in the early 20th century. Today it is a premier cultural and research institution presenting exhibitions, concerts, and lectures in an elegant complex on Madison Avenue.

Permanent Collection

The Morgan's collection includes some of the world's finest illuminated medieval manuscripts, Old Master drawings, literary and musical manuscripts, and rare printed books, including a Gutenberg Bible.
