Edgar Allan Poe Cottage

The Edgar Allan Poe Cottage is a National Historic Landmark preserving the small farmhouse where the author of 'The Raven' and 'The Tell-Tale Heart' spent the last years of his life from 1846 to 1849, writing some of his most celebrated works while caring for his ailing wife Virginia. Operated by the Bronx County Historical Society, the cottage offers an intimate view of Poe's creative and domestic life.

Permanent Collection

The museum presents period furnishings and personal artifacts associated with Poe's residence in the Bronx, along with exhibitions on his life and literary legacy. Original manuscripts, letters, and editions of his works are displayed alongside interpretive materials contextualizing his final productive years.
